Hey! Welcome to my home on the World Wide Web...For those of you who know me personally I hope you will find this blog informative about me as a person. I'd like to think of myself as a funny individual so please take any of my jokes and comments with a grain of salt. Thanks you for understanding that! Keep in mind that my catch phrase is, "If you can't laugh at yourself, then something's wrong..." So again, don't take anything posted on this blog too seriously or your head might just explode!

My Thoughts

April 21, 2007

Hi, I’m Eric and I’m a converted Windows user…

Logged under: Linux

Hello again… And yes, I’ve joined the dark side. Many of you who know me personally think I’m a pro-Microsoft supporter, well I’m here to prove you wrong!XP

My opinion of Microsoft is that its a good company with a very rich history and with some very good products (namely software). However, I do not endorse Microsoft in everything they do. I think Vista is a bit bloated and unnecessary. XP was actually a good product in my mind as it enabled many many PC users to expand their applications further, however with the rise of Open-Source OS’s (Operating Systems), such as Linux, I think its high time Microsoft either streamlines it’s OSes or concentrate on other things. For example, look at the 360, it’s a great product! Microsoft Office has been a crowning productivity suite for many years and there’s not stopping it now. Even so called Mac lovers (even at my school) still use Word, Excel, and Powerpoint in their “beloved” Macs.

However, this post isn’t intended to be a rant just yet. I’m posting this because I’ve now learned the potential and power of Linux, Yes, you all heard correctly, LINUX. This is more intended for people at my school, and so for all of you who have no idea what I’m talkubuntuing about, I can say one thing. Google it and the information you will learn you just might use later on in life or in the very near future. Linux comes in many different distributions and while its still tough for an average user to learn how to use, the newer versions (Such as Ubuntu Feisty Fawn) are increasingly user friendly and it only takes a whole 10 minutes to install and to start using on a standard PC. I believe now that Linux is the wave of the future, not only because its open-source (IE, free), but also supported by dedicated developers who update the software every 6 months. And finally, to all of those people in my school who think Apple OSX is the shit, well sorry to ruin your night but OSX is built on LINUX people…
