Choices, Choices, Choices

Filed under: Personal — Eric Huang @ 7:19 pm

Currently I stand at a crossroads. Imagine, your standing in the middle of a 4-way intersection in the middle of nowhere. Grass and fields strech for miles and there’s just a road sign on the side of the road. And on the sign, there’s a bunch of arrows pointing down several different roads with different decisions I’ve made and have yet to make in my life. Life is as they say, choices. It all boils down to what choices you make in your life. Everything counts, everything matters.

Lousiana Politics

Filed under: World, Politics — Eric Huang @ 5:55 pm

After watching “All The King’s Men” yesterday at the movie theater, it got me thinking about how backwards and screwed up politics in especially in the South. And today, when I was watching 60 minutes I saw a part on how the Attorney General of the state of Lousiana is investigating 3 women doctors and nurses for their role in commiting “mercy” killings of several patients. (Original Link) After watching the segment I thought to myself, and why would the government attempt to put three women who had dedicated their whole lives to helping people in jail for life when the government wouldn’t even come and help the hospital evacuate?

A New Project

Filed under: Personal, Web — Eric Huang @ 3:40 pm

I’ve been thinking of creating a new project for a long long time…  Small Blogs Network, is my next project I intend to build.  The main purpose of this new site will be to help small blogs to attract visitors to their sites.  The main reason I’m intending to do this is further expand my knowledge of CSS/XHTML and at the same time learn how to use a CMS to accomplish this.

I’m still in the design phase, however once I come up with a draft mockup, I’ll ask some of my peers to give some advice on it.  In the meantime I’ll also looking for a solution that I could use to power the backend behind the web gallery.  Hopefully I will find one that will fit my needs.  After that is all done, I intend to put the site online using my current host, Media Temple (Who I really liked their service) and on the domain smallblogsnetwork.com.  Also, I’ve already registered the .com TLD so no stupid spammers can take it before me!  Hah, take that!  Anyhow, if you have any suggestions or comments or just want to get your blog on the front page as soon as it’s finished, send me an email!  Use my contact form on this page, thanks!

Columbine Copycat

Filed under: World, Personal — Eric Huang @ 6:17 pm

This is a sad day indeed. Who in their right mind goes and does these sort of things? (CNN Link) And I thought the police checked MySpace and other social sites nowadays… Geez, how far can these go? One day after I left Seattle for Victoria, Canada, there was a shooting no less then 3 blocks away from my hotel! Some guy decided to pull a hate crime and held hostage several women who worked for the local Jewish federation. I had even drove by that building several times days before the incident… (more…)

Are We All The Same?

Filed under: World — Eric Huang @ 5:51 pm

Are We? As the world moves into the 21st century I feel that everyone is slowly but surely becoming similar in many ways. For one most countries with a stable government and economy now have American fast food all over the place. Mcdonalds is slowly taking over the world and there’s nothing we can do about it. American popculture is now everywhere, our celebrities are now becoming inspirations for upcoming stars from other countries looking to imitate the success that we have had. Bollywood is just a Hollywood with a lot less money injected into it and with a lot more musical to it. If you ignore the song and dance theme and the belly-dancing there are similarities. For one, their movies get pirated just as much as ours do! (more…)

Today’s Generation Part 2

Filed under: World, Politics — Eric Huang @ 6:23 pm

Okay, been awhile but anyhow. It’s the China question now and again. Will China finally rise to become a capitalistic superpower? Or will it linger in it’s communist and state-controlled days? As of right now, I can’t speculate on either one. There are steps being taken to move towards capitalism which in my opinion is a great first step. Now-a-days forgeign business’ are pouring money into the Southern Regions which is promoting growth at a rapid pace. Now, there’s Chinese yuppies or the growing middle class that live in high-rise apartments. That wasn’t around a couple of decades ago.
